Inventory Organization

I have people ask me all the time how I manage to find stuff in my inventory so easily. The answer is simple. Organization. My inventory is organized to the point where you say it, I can find it in less then a minute.

So here are some pro-tips for getting your inventory under control.

First) Delete!!!! All the thank you notecards, landmarks, unpack scripts and pose stands that come in boxed items, delete them. They take up a good chunk of your inventory count. Depending on the browser you use, you can set it to where your inventory will just show scripts or Notecards, or landmarks. Select one, expand all the folders, hold CTRL and click each one you find, then delete. You may have to do this a few times. I usually scroll a few times, delete, then repeat. To find pose stands, just type “post” or “stand” or “posestand” into the search and do the same. I have deleted 4000 things from my inventory in one day just by doing this.

Second) FOLDERS!- We’ll start out simple. I have a few main folders and within each are sub folders. There’s Clothes, Hair, House Stuff, Jewelry, AO’s, Accessories, RP stuff, Make up, Body Parts, Avatars and Random Fun stuff. We’ll start with clothes as an example.

Inside my clothes folder I have Tops, bottoms, Dresses, Swimwear, shoes, OUTFITS pants, OUTFITS, Skirts, OUTFITS Shorts, Costumes, Lingerie and Pajama’s. Each thing I have the goes into these individual categories is dropped in the corresponding folder. If you wish for more indepth sorting of general folders like Tops, Bottoms, and Dresses, sort items by what they are. Like for Tops, I have Belly shirts, Tee’s, Tank tops, Tube tops, Blouses, Long sleeve and Jackets. Each Folder I make, I put “!!” in front of because it knocks it up to the top of my inventory, or the top of the sub folder. I suggest starting out small, with the basic folders, then going more in depth with sub folders. It will take a while to get everything sorted, but once you do, you will find it so much easier and up keep is simple. If you get something, put it in the corresponding folder. I have a very large inventory of about 40,000 items and have never had trouble finding things.
